These terms apply when you use the Astera website, API, or mobile application. Astera is operated by Black Sheep Software. By using Astera, you agree to these terms.

Important: Astera provides general informational data. It is not an emergency warning service and must not be your only source for decisions affecting safety.

Weather and activity information

Forecasts, observations, tides, air quality, risk indicators, activity scores, and recommendations may be delayed, incomplete, unavailable, or inaccurate. Conditions can change quickly. Check official warnings, local authorities, and conditions at the location before acting.

Astera is not professional aviation, marine-navigation, flood, fire, medical, or emergency advice. You remain responsible for your decisions, equipment, permissions, skills, and compliance with applicable rules.

Permitted use

You may use Astera for lawful personal purposes and for approved first-party integrations. You must not:

circumvent access controls, rate limits, or security measures;
interfere with or overload the service;
scrape, resell, or redistribute Astera or upstream data without written permission and any required provider licence;
use the service unlawfully or misrepresent its data as guaranteed or official advice;
probe for vulnerabilities except through an expressly authorised security programme.

API access

API keys remain the property of Astera, must be kept confidential, and may be limited, rotated, or revoked. Anonymous endpoints may have stricter limits. Access does not grant rights to resell data or remove required attribution.

Third-party data

Astera combines information from independent providers. Their data, attribution, licences, availability, and terms may apply in addition to these terms. Astera does not control those providers.

Availability and changes

We may change, suspend, or discontinue features, providers, limits, or the service. We do not promise uninterrupted availability or that stored alerts and preferences will always be retained.

Intellectual property

Astera's software, design, branding, and original content belong to Black Sheep Software or its licensors. Third-party data and marks belong to their respective owners. No rights are granted beyond the limited right to use the service under these terms.

Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Astera is provided “as is” and “as available.” Black Sheep Software is not liable for losses caused by reliance on inaccurate or unavailable data, missed alerts, service interruption, or third-party providers. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
