About Astera

Astera is a weather app built by Harrow Point Software. It's your forecast plus the context that decides whether it's actually a good day to go outside — tides, sky quality, air quality, and activity scoring, all in one place for any location on Earth.

Under the hood, Astera aggregates data from multiple providers and normalises it into a single unified WorldState — the same model that powers this app and the underlying API.

What's included

☁ Weather 🌊 Marine & Tides 🌙 Astronomy 💨 Air Quality 🌊 Flood Risk 🚁 Drone Score 🔭 Stargazing Score 📷 Photography Score 🚶 Coastal Walk Score 🎣 Fishing Score ⛵ Sailing Score 🥾 Hiking Score 🚴 Cycling Score 🏄 Surfing Score

Data sources

Astera normalises data from the Norwegian Meteorological Institute (met.no), the UKHO Admiralty Tidal API, NOAA, LocationIQ, Open-Meteo, and the UK Environment Agency. Providers are abstracted behind stable Astera interfaces — they can change without affecting your integration.

City population data used to approximate light pollution for the stargazing score is from the SimpleMaps World Cities Database, licensed under CC BY 4.0.
